comment "In CERIF, the concept of product is physically (cfResProd) and logically (cfResultProduct) defined as an entity in an ERM, described through basic attributes and through semantically neutral relationships with e.g. persons (cfPers_ResProd), organisations (cfOrgUnit_ResProd), classification systems (cfResProd_Class), projects (cfProj_ResProd). "The entity product in CERIF has often caused confusion, it was maybe not stressed enough, that a cerif product is considered a result in general, achieved through some effort - and not at all is it a commercial or a physical product only. It was intended also to represent i.e. software or 'research data'.
The Australian National Data Services aims at collecting definitions for clarifiying the concept of ""research data"". In CERIF, cfResProd (cfResultProduct) is an entity in the ERM. In the CERIF vocabulary, we introduce the concept of product.
In the physical CERIF data model, the classification of types for products happens with the cfProduct_Class entity, where a type is represented by a classification term (cfTerm) identified by its cfClassificationIdentifier (a uuid), and reused at instance level for assigning product types to product records." This term belongs to the 'CERIF Entities; CERIF Entities' classification scheme." ()
